Okay, so I'm not going to be participating in NaNoWriMo. But
otterkin came to the rescue! I can channel my creative energies elsewhere, and where I'm good at it--FOOD. That's right, it's National Local Foods Month! The goals for me will be very similar to
otterkin's, and in fact I've practically cut & pasted them in their entirety from her. I am lobbying her to allow some exemptions for grains, though, and to create a cool logo.
Here we go:
1. Write or adapt and test 10 new recipes using 95% locally-sourced ingredients. Exceptions include spices and oil. No breaks for using ingredients that *could* be sourced locally, but aren't (e.g., potatoes). Most of the recipes will be for complete meals.
2. Investigate 5 new sources of local foods. No good ideas on this one yet, but I'll be thinking about it.
3. Blog about my finds.
Let the fun begin!! (Yes, and beginning this project in November? Hardcore, eh?)

Things I really hope to find:
* A couple food products that are fantastically good that you can't find anywhere else
* A workable local starch on which to base meals
* Get the milk group up & running again* A couple food products that are fantastically good that you can't find anywhere else
