Riddle me this...

The following situation happened to me yesterday.  I was sitting on the couch generally being sick (and crocheting).  My nose was so completely stuffed up that no air would pass, at all.  Let me be clear here, NO AIR AT ALL.  And yet, at the same time, my nose was dripping.  WTF???  So, since I could neither blow my nose nor *ahem* sniff, I had to just sit there with a hanky under my nose, constantly wiping.  This put a real dent in my crocheting.  Has this ever happened to anyone else?  I've asked people in the past, and they all think I'm totally blinkers.  (Anyone catch that reference???)

In fibrearts news, I am now officially a heretic.  I've begun crocheting, snubbing my nose at my first love, knitting.  It's weird, but there's a real sense in which that's actually what it feels like.  My brother-n-sister-in-law got me the Stitch N' Bitch Happy Hooker book, so I've been working through some of the learning sections.  And it's kinda cool.  I mean, there's no reason not to do both.  Knitting and crocheting each have their own strengths and weaknesses, things that they'll each do better at, so why not learn both?  And yet... and yet I feel weird crocheting.  Maybe it's just that I'm only learning and it doesn't feel natural to me yet.  But nonetheless, when I find something that's easier about crocheting that knitting I'm all like "Yeah, well that's because there's no challenge!"  And when I find something that is easier about knitting I'm all like "Yeah!  Take that, crochet!"  This is nuts.  Maybe I really am totally blinkers?

Ah, no matter.  Importing more music to my iPod.  Today we're blowing off church to go see Alex's godfathers, so I thought I'd actually download some UU podcasts to listen to on the way (we found a speaker that sort of works for the iPod).

A WHAT?

knitting
Yes, I've just found a pattern for a klein bottle knit hat!  Wheeee!  I think I would knit this, but for two small problems:

1)  I'm worried about inadvertently disassembling the tethers that hold together our typical 3-dimensional space-time experience; and,
2)  Actually, the finished had looks kind of stupid.

But hey, how often do you find knitting projects that ignore the basic fabric of reality?  You gotta give props for things like that.

It's 9:45a, and my youngest son still isn't up.  Given that I'm feeling pretty durned head-coldy, I'm thinking he's sick.  Bugger.  I hope he's up for a few errands today anyway.  I need to go to the yarn store for funs stuff to make blueberry hat for my neice, maybe more yarn for another shopping bag present, general things like that.  I've also got to turn in my timecard from the past two weeks -- 27.5 hours!  Yeah!  Plus 140 miles of travel reimbursement for taking folks to the airport!  Money money money money money!

EDIT:  It is now 11:06a, and Ian still hasn't stirred (coughed occasionally, but not stirred).  I'm beginning to worry about how to get Alex from school today, as he's on noon dismissal...
