Snagged from [info]feonixrift.  Fun!

Bold those you have tried.
Strikethrough those you wouldn't eat on a bet.
Italicize any item you'll never eat again.
Asterisk any items you'd be interested in trying but have not yet.
Underline anything you eat regularly (more than once a month-ish).
Questionisk any items you've never heard of. (My addition.)

We do not regularly have umeboshi!
I've had abalone.
We're close to regular on s'mores, during summer.

Jedimomma and I have had Louche Absinth! We had it during our honeymoon in France in Carnac remember!
You don't remember La Fae Verte?

I think I may have had snake when I was very young too. and Chocolate covered ants.

I've never had crocodile or steak tartare, though.

I've had lassi many times but don't know if it was salted or not.
We've had goat, but not curried.
I beleive I have sipped a dirty gin martini, (on accident), but couldn't drink a whole one.

I've had pocky, and I think Jedimomma has too. I've had bludwurst which is basically the same thing as black pudding, and I think I made Jedimomma try it.

I've never had Lobster Thermidor.

Wikipedia says Phaal (AKA Phall, Paal, and Phal) is an ultrahot Indian dish, leaving Vindaloo in the dust. Baijiu is a Chinese white liquor made from sorghum, like vodka but in the 80-120 proof range and with an vague sorghumy flavor

By my list I have actually prepared 10 of these items, and I'll bet Jedimomma has prepared at least 18 maybe more of these.

We do too regularly have umeboshi--it's a vinegar that I use all the time, ha!

I actually don't remember the Absinthe, but I think that might be a symptom of the absinthe rather than my own memory. ;)

You've tried steak tartare, which I had in France. You've had salted lassi, which is basically plain lassi with some salt, sugar & cardamon. You're right, I have tried bludwurst (yuck).

What's Pocky? Is that some of those British biscuits?

Quoting wikipedia: "Umeboshi (Japanese: 梅干; literally "dried ume") are pickled ume fruits. Ume is a species of fruit-bearing tree in the genus Prunus, which is often called a plum but is actually more closely related to the apricot. Umeboshi are a type of tsukemono, or traditional Japanese pickled food, and are very popular in Japan. Many Japanese have Umeboshi for breakfast or lunch." Ok now vinegarbook.net says
"Umeboshi vinegar is a pink brine with a deep cherry aroma and a fruity sour flavor. It is a by-product produced when umeboshi (Japanese pickled plums are made). Technically it is not classified as a vinegar because it contains salt, but it is a good substitute for vinegar and salt in any recipe." Eden foods markets an umeboshi vinegar in the states. So the moral of the story is that umeboshi vinegar is NOT at all the same thing as umeboshi, which I have not had, certainly not regularly, HA!

Oh yeah now I dimly remember trying your steak tartare.

Pocky are those little stick-biscuits with chocolate on them, kinda little Japanese biscotti. Wikipedia "Pocky" for a good image. I might have had them before meeting you but I think we've tried them since.

On the absinth, we definately had it, in that little bar in Carnac, Pernod Fils. I remember trying to louche it, but my results were not spectacular, so I'm not convinced that it was properly louched, if that is why you are hesitant.

Hey it is kinda fun to bicker about food in semi-public on your blog.

*SPLUUUUUURRRRRBBBBBT*

Okay fine, I'll un-underline umeboshi, but I'm sure I've had the pickled fruit at some point (and, damnit, having umeboshi "vinegar" around oughta count for something!). I'll bold the absinthe, and the Pocky--now I remember those.

I think I'm gonna try to cook up some poutine soon, though--need a bit more milk for curds, though (apparently 5 gallons of milk this week wasn't quite enough--FTW?).

For innocent bystander onlookers: yes, this is very much like what our normal life is like. =)
